Domo vs Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, Sigma, Qlik, Sisense and Looker.
Compare the platforms Domo teams are evaluating across pricing, architecture, data connectivity, AI and migration effort, including what you actually have to rebuild if you switch.
Every price links to the vendor's own page, checked 18 August 2026.
Compare against your actual setup
A scoped map of what moving would involve for your stack. Useful whichever platform you land on.
Eight platforms, one table.
Every Domo comparison is really an architecture question: does the alternative replace all of Domo, or only the dashboard on top?
Domo vs Power BI
Power BI has the lowest per-seat price here and the largest hiring pool in the category. Power BI also has two price axes, not one: seats first, Fabric capacity second.
- Power BI Pro $14.00 and Premium Per User $24.00 per user per month, paid yearly
- Free viewers start at Fabric F64 or Power BI Premium P1 and above
- Copilot needs paid Fabric F2 or higher, not a Pro licence alone
- MongoDB and Elasticsearch route through a driver or a warehouse
Domo vs Tableau
If what you liked about Domo was the charts, Tableau beats it. Tableau replaces the dashboard layer, not the pipeline underneath. Domo charges nothing per user. Tableau charges for every one.
- Tableau Standard from $15 and Tableau Enterprise from $35 per user per month, annually
- Every deployment needs a Creator licence. There are no monthly plans
- Scheduling Tableau Prep flows needs Data Management, bundled into Enterprise
- Tableau Agent needs Cloud+ or the Tableau+ bundle, not the entry edition
Five more, in brief.
Domo vs Snowflake
Snowflake is where data lives, not a BI tool. Snowsight supports five chart types: bar, line, scatterplot, heat grid, scorecard. Domo vs Snowflake really means Domo against Snowflake plus a BI tool.
Domo vs Sigma
Sigma is a spreadsheet interface that compiles to SQL and runs live where the data sits, with query history showing the SQL behind every element. Sigma has no storage layer, so it needs a SQL data platform underneath.
Domo vs Qlik
Qlik sells connectors, transformation, dashboards and alerting as one platform, the shape you already run. Its associative engine surfaces what a selection excludes, not only what it includes. Qlik is not extract-only: Direct Query pushes SQL to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and Redshift.
Domo vs Sisense
Sisense is aimed at product teams shipping analytics to their own customers: white-labelling, the code-first Compose SDK, native multi-tenancy, bring-your-own-LLM and on-premises deployment. ElastiCube is the primary path, so there is an ingest and model step, though the engine can query live sources too.
Domo vs Looker
LookML is the reason to buy Looker: define a metric once and dashboards, APIs and agents inherit it. It is also mandatory, a developer project, and Looker expects a warehouse underneath. Looker cannot join across connections.
Nothing imports Magic ETL
Magic ETL flows and Beast Modes are proprietary. No vendor on this page offers a conversion utility, so every move off Domo is partly a rebuild.
Domo vs Knowi
Knowi keeps the shape of Domo: one platform for connectors, transformation, a semantic layer, dashboards, alerts and AI agents, on a flat annual fee, with the migration done by us.
70+ native connectors cover SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Cassandra and REST APIs, queried where they live and joined at query time. Deployment is Knowi cloud, your VPC or on-premises, with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR and a Private AI option so inference stays inside your environment.
Where Knowi fits
- All-in-one, so you are not assembling a stack
- Flat annual platform fee, no consumption meter
- Magic ETL and Beast Modes rebuilt during onboarding
- Domo runs in parallel until your team signs off
Where Knowi is not the answer
- No equivalent for Domo App Studio or Workflows
- Sales-led, with no self-serve tier
- A far smaller community than Power BI or Tableau
- All-in on Microsoft and happy to rebuild? Power BI is cheaper per seat
Most alternatives do not remove the meter. They move it.
If unpredictable consumption billing is why you are running this comparison, price the whole stack, not the BI line.
Domo's pricing page describes credits consumed by storing data, updating tables, running workflows and ML inference. Users are unlimited, so the bill tracks activity rather than headcount. Costs climb without anyone new logging in.
Vendr's median across 91 Domo purchases, with deals from $10,920 to $175,245. Buyers who benchmark an alternative before renewal save around 13% on average, whether they switch or stay.
Snowflake meters compute and storage. Looker token-meters Conversational Analytics from 1 October 2026. Sigma pushes query cost into your warehouse. Power BI and Tableau swap the meter for a seat count. Qlik swaps it for gigabytes.
Knowi's pricing is quoted per deployment rather than published, so treat any flat-fee comparison as directional until you have a number from us.
Domo is not falling over. It is changing owner.
On 22 July 2026 Domo agreed to sell substantially all of its assets and certain liabilities to Progress Software for $400 million in cash. The deal covers the operating business, platform, customer contracts and employees, and closes by 30 November 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Reported in Domo's fiscal 2026 annual filing. On the Q4 FY26 earnings call Domo reported gross retention above 88%, the highest in twelve quarters, with 84% of ARR on the consumption model.
The open question is not whether Domo survives. It is the roadmap under a new owner, and your renewal terms after the close. Knowing what a move costs makes the renewal a choice, not a default.
Domo comparison FAQs
Is Power BI a good Domo alternative?
Yes, if you run on Microsoft and have a team willing to rebuild the pipeline. Power BI Pro is $14.00 per user per month paid yearly, the lowest per-seat price here. The catch is the second axis: free viewers start at Fabric F64 or Power BI Premium P1, and Copilot needs paid Fabric F2 or higher. Magic ETL becomes Power Query, Beast Modes become DAX.
How does Domo compare to Tableau?
Tableau puts more emphasis on visual exploration and analyst-led analysis than Domo's card-based experience. Two things decide the budget: Domo charges nothing per user while Tableau charges for every one, and Tableau replaces the dashboard layer but not the pipeline. Tableau Standard starts at $15 and Tableau Enterprise at $35 per user per month, billed annually.
Domo vs Snowflake: are they even competitors?
Not really. Snowflake is a data platform, Domo is a BI platform. Snowsight gives five chart types on query results, handy next to a SQL worksheet but not a BI tool. Domo vs Snowflake really means Domo against Snowflake plus a BI tool on top: two contracts, two meters.
Is Sigma a realistic Domo replacement?
Yes, if you already have a SQL data platform for it to sit on. Sigma compiles a spreadsheet interface into SQL and runs it live in your warehouse, which suits teams who think in Excel. Sigma has no storage layer, so it cannot replace the ingestion half of Domo.
Domo vs Qlik: which is closest to what we already have?
Qlik is the closest match in shape: connectors, transformation, dashboards, alerting and embedding in one platform. Model the unit carefully. Qlik charges by data volume, not by seat, with tiers at $300, $825 and $2,750 per month and no charge for extra users above Starter. That swaps a refresh meter for a gigabyte meter.
Should we look at Sisense instead?
Look at Sisense if you are replacing Domo Everywhere and shipping analytics to your own customers. Sisense positions itself as embedded analytics for product teams, and its white-labelling, Compose SDK and multi-tenancy are strong. For internal dashboards it is aimed at a different buyer, and it publishes no pricing.
Domo vs Looker: what is the catch?
Looker's governed semantic layer is one of its core differentiators, and LookML provides a structured answer to metric definitions drifting between dashboards and AI answers. The catch: LookML is mandatory, it is a development project, and Looker expects a warehouse underneath. Pricing is quote-only, and Conversational Analytics token overages start 1 October 2026.
Which Domo alternative does not require a data warehouse?
Qlik and Knowi are the two here that do not assume one. Sigma, Looker and Snowflake-based stacks expect a SQL data platform underneath, and Power BI and Tableau usually end up with one for anything beyond SQL sources. Knowi connects directly to SQL databases, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Cassandra and REST APIs.
Is this page biased? We build a competing platform, so yes. Every claim links to the vendor's own page, and every section names what that platform is genuinely better at, including where it beats us.
Understand your Domo bill before you renew it
Domo does not publish pricing, so here is what the public data shows. Knowing your own numbers is step one of the assessment.
Domo meters a pre-purchased credit pool: data refreshes, dataflows, storage, and AI usage all draw it down. Cost tracks usage patterns, not headcount, which is why bills climb without new users. 84% of Domo's revenue now runs on this model.
Vendr's benchmark across 85 Domo purchases: median around $50,000 per year, deals ranging from $10,920 to $175,245, and enterprise deployments running $250,000 or more.
Knowi is a flat annual platform fee scoped to your deployment. No per-refresh or per-query metering, so the number you sign is the number you pay.
Buyers who walk into a renewal with their own usage report and a live alternative save about 13% on average, whether they switch or stay. The free assessment gives you the alternative half of that equation.

The best time to map your options is before your renewal
No drama, just planning. Knowing exactly what a switch would take puts you in control of the conversation.
Most teams overestimate how locked in they are. A scoped migration map tells you what would actually move, and what it would take.
A concrete alternative on the table changes your renewal conversation, whether you switch or stay.
Migrations planned months before a renewal run calmly. Migrations started weeks before one don't. The assessment tells you which side of that line you're on.
Teams that map an alternative before renewal negotiate from a stronger position. That's what the free assessment gives you, whether you switch or stay.
What actually moves, piece by piece
Your Magic ETL logic is exportable as JSON, and your raw data already lives in your own sources. Here is how each piece of your Domo instance maps to Knowi.
| In Domo | In Knowi | How it moves |
|---|---|---|
| Magic ETL dataflows | Queries and transformations | Flows export as JSON. We map the logic into Knowi during onboarding. |
| Beast Modes | Calculated fields | Calculation definitions are recreated, with edge cases flagged in the assessment. |
| Cards and Pages | Widgets and dashboards | Rebuilt to match. You review everything before cutover. |
| Alerts and scheduled reports | Alerts and reports | Recreated with the same triggers and schedules. |
| Connectors | Native connectors | SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch), and REST APIs, often broader than the original. |
| Your data | Stays where it lives | Knowi connects directly to your sources. No forced warehouse project. |
Every migration has edge cases. The assessment call tells you which of yours are easy and which need work, before you commit to anything.
Three steps. No big-bang weekend.
One platform, plus a devoted team that makes the migration easier, faster, and honestly, more fun. You validate as we go, and Domo stays live until you sign off.
Assessment
We inventory your Domo instance: datasets, dataflows, cards, and alerts. You get a scoped migration map, whether you move forward or not.
Rebuild
Our team recreates the pipeline logic, calculations, and dashboards in Knowi. You review each piece as it lands.
Parallel run, then switch
Both platforms run side by side until the numbers match and your team signs off. Then you switch.
You picked all-in-one for a reason. Keep it.
Some teams replace Domo by assembling a stack, and a good data team can pull it off. But that's months of glue work before anyone sees a dashboard again. There's a simpler route.
The stack route
- A warehouse, an ETL tool, a viz layer, and alerting glue
- Three or four new contracts to negotiate
- Data engineering time to build and babysit it
- Months before dashboards are back
The Knowi route
- One platform: connectors, transformations, dashboards, alerts, AI
- Native NoSQL and REST API connectivity Domo didn't have
- Cross-source joins without moving data
- AI agents that work inside the data layer, not bolted on
Teams running analytics on Knowi
Typical Knowi contracts land well under a Domo renewal. Bring your current contract to the assessment and we'll be straight about the comparison.
Domo migration FAQs
The questions every Domo team asks before the assessment call.
How long does a Domo to Knowi migration take?
It depends on how many dataflows and cards you run, which is exactly what the free assessment scopes. Typical mid-market migrations complete in weeks, not months, because your raw data stays in your existing sources and only the logic and dashboards are recreated.
Do we need a data warehouse to leave Domo?
No. Knowi connects directly to SQL databases, NoSQL stores like MongoDB and Elasticsearch, and REST APIs. If you have a warehouse, Knowi connects to it. If you don't, you are not forced into a warehouse project just to switch BI tools.
What happens to our Magic ETL dataflows?
Magic ETL dataflows export as JSON definitions. During onboarding, our team maps that logic into Knowi queries and transformations, and you validate the outputs against Domo before cutover.
What happens to our Beast Modes?
Beast Mode calculations are recreated as calculated fields in Knowi. Most translate directly. The ones that don't are flagged in the assessment so there are no surprises mid-migration.
Can we run Knowi and Domo in parallel?
Yes, and you should. Parallel running until the numbers match is our standard cutover practice. You keep Domo live until your team signs off.
What does the migration cost?
The assessment is free either way. For annual contracts, the migration work is included in onboarding rather than billed as a separate services project.
