NewsProgress Software agreed to acquire Domo for $400M on Jul 22, 2026. Expected close: Nov 30, 2026.

For Teams on Domo

Moving off Domo?

Get your migration map

A scoped map of what moves easily and what needs work. Useful whether you switch or stay.

Why Now

The best time to map your options is before your renewal

No drama, just planning. Knowing exactly what a switch would take puts you in control of the conversation.

Clarity

Most teams overestimate how locked in they are. A scoped migration map tells you what would actually move, and what it would take.

Leverage

A concrete alternative on the table changes your renewal conversation, whether you switch or stay.

Timing

Migrations planned months before a renewal run calmly. Migrations started weeks before one don't. The assessment tells you which side of that line you're on.

Teams that map an alternative before renewal negotiate from a stronger position. That's what the free assessment gives you, whether you switch or stay.

Domo Pricing, Decoded

Understand your Domo bill before you renew it

Domo does not publish pricing, so here is what the public data shows. Knowing your own numbers is step one of the assessment.

Credits

Domo meters a pre-purchased credit pool: data refreshes, dataflows, storage, and AI usage all draw it down. Cost tracks usage patterns, not headcount, which is why bills climb without new users. 84% of Domo's revenue now runs on this model.

~$50K median

Vendr's benchmark across 85 Domo purchases: median around $50,000 per year, deals ranging from $10,920 to $175,245, and enterprise deployments running $250,000 or more.

Flat, by contrast

Knowi is a flat annual platform fee scoped to your deployment. No per-refresh or per-query metering, so the number you sign is the number you pay.

Buyers who walk into a renewal with their own usage report and a live alternative save about 13% on average, whether they switch or stay. The free assessment gives you the alternative half of that equation.

Comparing Your Options

Domo vs Power BI vs Knowi: the honest version

If you are weighing an exit, the real comparison is not feature checklists. It is what each path costs you in money, rebuild effort, and roadmap risk.

Staying on Domo Moving to Power BI Moving to Knowi
Pricing model Consumption credits. Refreshes, dataflows, storage, and AI all draw down a pre-purchased pool, so cost tracks usage, not headcount. Per-user licensing, with Fabric capacity required on top for embedding and Copilot features. Costs scale with seats and capacity tiers. Flat annual platform fee scoped to your deployment. No per-refresh, per-query, or per-seat metering.
Migration effort None today, but you are renewing into an ownership change with the roadmap still unsettled until the deal closes. Your team rebuilds dataflows in Power Query and calculated fields in DAX. It is a different paradigm, and the work sits on your desk. Our team recreates your Magic ETL flows, Beast Modes, and dashboards during onboarding, then runs parallel until you sign off.
Stack coverage All-in-one: connectors, ETL, dashboards, and alerts in one product. That is why it is hard to replace piecemeal. Visualization is the core. ETL, orchestration, and warehousing typically come from separate Fabric or Azure components you assemble. All-in-one like Domo: 70+ native connectors, transformations, dashboards, alerts, and AI in a single platform.
Data sources Broad connector catalog, cloud-first architecture. Strongest inside the Microsoft ecosystem. NoSQL databases and REST APIs usually route through ODBC drivers or land in a warehouse first. Native SQL, NoSQL, and REST API connectivity with cross-source joins, no warehouse required in between.
AI on your data Domo AI features consume credits from the same pool as everything else. Copilot is tied to Fabric capacity and works on modeled semantic-layer data. AI agents run inside the data layer on governed datasets, included in the platform fee.

Power BI is a reasonable landing spot if you are all-in on Microsoft and have the team to rebuild everything yourselves. If you want the all-in-one model you bought Domo for, without the rebuild landing on your team, that is the gap Knowi was built to fill. The free assessment shows you exactly what your migration would involve, whichever way you lean.

The Lock-In, Unlocked

What actually moves, piece by piece

Your Magic ETL logic is exportable as JSON, and your raw data already lives in your own sources. Here is how each piece of your Domo instance maps to Knowi.

Magic ETL dataflowsQueries and transformationsFlows export as JSON. We map the logic into Knowi during onboarding.
Beast ModesCalculated fieldsCalculation definitions are recreated, with edge cases flagged in the assessment.
Cards and PagesWidgets and dashboardsRebuilt to match. You review everything before cutover.

Every migration has edge cases. The assessment call tells you which of yours are easy and which need work, before you commit to anything.

How It Works

Three steps. No big-bang weekend.

One platform, plus a devoted team that makes the migration easier, faster, and honestly, more fun. You validate as we go, and Domo stays live until you sign off.

Assessment

We inventory your Domo instance: datasets, dataflows, cards, and alerts. You get a scoped migration map, whether you move forward or not.

Cutover

Parallel run, then switch

Both platforms run side by side until the numbers match and your team signs off. Then you switch.

The Other Path

You picked all-in-one for a reason. Keep it.

Some teams replace Domo by assembling a stack, and a good data team can pull it off. But that's months of glue work before anyone sees a dashboard again. There's a simpler route.

Option A

The stack route

  • A warehouse, an ETL tool, a viz layer, and alerting glue
  • Three or four new contracts to negotiate
  • Data engineering time to build and babysit it
  • Months before dashboards are back
Option B

The Knowi route

  • One platform: connectors, transformations, dashboards, alerts, AI
  • Native NoSQL and REST API connectivity Domo didn't have
  • Cross-source joins without moving data
  • AI agents that work inside the data layer, not bolted on

Questions

Domo migration FAQs

The questions every Domo team asks before the assessment call.

How long does a Domo to Knowi migration take?

It depends on how many dataflows and cards you run, which is exactly what the free assessment scopes. Typical mid-market migrations complete in weeks, not months, because your raw data stays in your existing sources and only the logic and dashboards are recreated.

Do we need a data warehouse to leave Domo?

No. Knowi connects directly to SQL databases, NoSQL stores like MongoDB and Elasticsearch, and REST APIs. If you have a warehouse, Knowi connects to it. If you don't, you are not forced into a warehouse project just to switch BI tools.

What happens to our Magic ETL dataflows?

Magic ETL dataflows export as JSON definitions. During onboarding, our team maps that logic into Knowi queries and transformations, and you validate the outputs against Domo before cutover.

What happens to our Beast Modes?

Beast Mode calculations are recreated as calculated fields in Knowi. Most translate directly. The ones that don't are flagged in the assessment so there are no surprises mid-migration.

Can we run Knowi and Domo in parallel?

Yes, and you should. Parallel running until the numbers match is our standard cutover practice. You keep Domo live until your team signs off.

What does the migration cost?

The assessment is free either way. For annual contracts, the migration work is included in onboarding rather than billed as a separate services project.
